FAQ

1. Can the CNC AWD Kit be used to upgrade a standard Trident?

Yes, but first ensure your mainboard has two available motor ports. You will also need to provide two additional drivers for the XY axis (e.g., TMC2209).

  • The X carriage included in the kit is designed to work with MGN12H rails for the X-axis only.

  • It is compatible with sensors like Cartographer, Beacon, and IDM for leveling.

  • Additional parts like pulleys and bearings are required (refer to the details above).

  • Some sanding of the H-beam is needed to avoid friction with the 9mm belt.

  • Since the kit does not include dedicated toolhead cable management, you'll need to route cables through the extrusion slots. We highly recommend using a CAN toolboard to reduce the number of cables.

2. Does the kit include parts for 2WD as well?

Yes, all the necessary metal parts and screws for 2WD are included in the kit.

3. What color options are available for the CNC AWD Kit? Can I customize the color?

Currently, the kit is available in two color schemes: black and white, and black and red. Custom color options are not offered at this time.

4.What is the purpose of the UHF extension bracket for the X Carriage?

The UHF extension bracket is used to adjust the position of the eddy current leveling sensor. Since UHF ultra-high-flow hotends are longer, they push the sensor too far from the build surface. The extension bracket extends the sensor downward by approximately 8mm to ensure accurate leveling and proper sensor operation.

  • Without the UHF_Extensions, the X Carriage supports ST standard or HF high-flow hotends such as V6, Dragon, or Revo.

  • With UHF_Extensions, it supports UHF ultra-high-flow hotends like Rapido UHF and Dragon UHF.

5. Will the travel of my printer be affected when using AWD?

Yes, the print platform will lose a 20×50mm rectangular area on both the left and right sides, as shown in the diagram below. This issue does not occur when using 2AWD.

However, our optimized design has introduced an excess movement range, represented by the green rectangles in the diagram. This additional space can be effectively used for features such as extending the nozzle cleaning brush and material waste bin.

Diagram Details:

  • Green rectangle: Represents the excess movement range created by our design optimization.

  • Red rectangle: Represents the inaccessible area when using AWD.

6.Why are the outer two screws of the front motor mount in the AWD system directly fixed to the metal parts?

To minimize unprintable areas caused by AWD, the front motor mount has been designed with a very compact dimension. To prevent friction between the belt and the frame, the bearing group needs to be shifted inward by approximately 2mm.
